One fun project Pinch of Charm took on this year was helping with a stylized photo shoot hosted by Sharon Elizabeth Photography! Stylizing has some of the same decorating and set up that a real wedding would have, but there isn’t an actual wedding..just models that are posing! The purpose is to help photographers learn new skills and add to their portfolio, but it’s also a cool way to bring different people from different aspects of the wedding industry together! We were involved in the coordinating aspect, but there were also hair & make-up artists, a florist, and an invitation company, to name a few! Be sure to check out the names of everyone involved at the bottom of the page. All of the photos shown below were taken by Megan Vaughan, who attended the shoot. We want to thank her for letting us use her pictures and encourage you all to check out her personal website, which will also be at the end of this post!

The setting for the shoot was the Clay Hill Gardens, a beautiful venue located in Yale, Virginia! The gardens there are beautiful and there are four antique refurbished buildings on the property that host weddings. The Shoot-a-thon separated photographers into small groups of 3-4 people and allowed them to shoot three different scenes on the property.

The first scene was the bride and groom. These two weren’t actually a couple..but look how natural they are together! Their posing allowed for some really beautiful shots!!

The next scene featured two sisters, Ashley and Jeannette! Clearly beauty runs in the family. This scene allowed the photographers to practice taking individual portraits. With such beautiful models and great scenery around Clay Hill, these pictures turned out really well!

Lastly, photographers were encouraged to practice their detail shots by taking pictures of various wedding décor. This included things like venue, signs, invitations, the tablescape, and flower arrangements! Brides want to remember the little things about their wedding since it can go by so fast, so it is important for photographers to be able to catch all the detail! This experience was great because the photographers were able to learn and grow and also experience what real wedding photography would be like without all of the pressure!

We were very happy to be able to help Sharon Elizabeth with the behind the scenes coordination for the shoot and to meet some new people through this experience, like Megan! We love working with such talented people who have the same passion for weddings as we do!
